Jumper Spool Piece Metrology PDF Print E-mail

jumperspoolpiecemetrology1Precise survey data is absolutely essential for Spool-piece/Jumper construction. The “conventional” techniques for collecting these measurements such as deploying a long baseline (LBL) array, has reliably provided this data for many years but considerable vessel/ROV or “spread” time is consumed in the process. By using our proven C-PINS inertial navigation solution in place of your existing survey techniques you can reduce the spread time consumed for a metrology by up to 55% while still delivery the same accuracy.

Time to first oil is a critical issue for many operators. The earlier a well can be connected the sooner production flows. Completing a metrology as soon as the well has been installed allows for the spool-piece/jumper to be fabricated while the well is being completed. Follow this up with a quick check inertial metrology (perhaps from the rig) prior to the installing of the jumper in the middle of very complex simultaneous operations (sim-ops) allows for very cost effective and safe subsea operations.

Our fully proven solution has already saved many $100,000’s of dollars in exactly these situations.

Benefits of Combining Intertial Technologies to Metrology:

  • Reduced Boat/ROV spread time
  • Increased speed of deployment
  • Less Transponders needed
  • Improved accuracy
