"Step Out" Positioning PDF Print E-mail

stepoutpositioningusingc-pinsInertial navigation combined with a sparse LBL array is an excellent solution for the precise relative placement of structures and any subsea infrastructure near to existing subsea components. By utilizing existing known subsea stations (transponder frames, stab receptacles, etc.) a sparse array (2 beacons) can be quickly deployed enabling LBL quality positioning without the time taken for a full array deployment. Simple buoy sets for well installations, location marking and ROV assisted installation of flow line or other subsea structures (FLET, ILM, manifolds etc.)  can be completed with minimal spread time being consumed for the installation and calibration of the positioning system.

This can lead to enormous cost savings for operations surveying near pre-existing seabed structures. ROV/Vessel time is limited to the inertial navigation survey time and not spent on placement of additional transponders. The Zupt C-PINS product makes this all possible.
